Good Monday afternoon! How was your weekend? Mine was a little interesting. Sunday, April 1, I "celebrated" my first cancerversary. According to spell check, that's not a word; but it's my special day all the same.
.....
I want to start writing about my journey with cancer. It won't be every post, but on occasion, I want to share what I'm learning -- technicalities and human aspects. Unfortunately, every time I start, I create something that I wouldn't want to read. That's frustrating.
I don't want to make people sad. I want to educate and inspire. Getting the words started, seems to be a tricky thing to do.
Maybe I'm just out of practice with writing overall? Possibly.
.....
No matter, I wanted to write personally today. I wanted to write about being healthy AND fighting cancer at the same time. I'm sure it can be done; but I often have a hard time MAKING myself try. Just because one undergoes chemotherapy does NOT mean they can't make smart food choices and be active. In fact, it's one of the first things that was reinforced during my orientation a year ago.
*The toxins will dehydrate you -- drink LOTS of water.
*Eat a healthy breakfast before you start each cycle of chemo -- it helps keep your strength and (as I learned) it may be the last time you actually feel like eating for a few days.
*Fruits, veggies, lean proteins will be best for you -- they are premium fuel for your body. Think about how you feel, perfectly healthy, when your blood sugar drops, or the caffiene runs out. Also, some cancers and chemotherapies create a diabetic situation for the person.
All of this makes perfect sense; and yet I find myself in moments of eating out of some warped sense of entitlement. "I'm fighting cancer; that sucks. Ergo, I deserve these three cookies and a can of Coke.... Pie is the breakfast of champions.... Taco Bell is good for the soul."
Compound that with tastebuds being out of whack for a few days. Your favorite foods might not taste right; but the strong sugary and salty flavors ring true.
Compound THAT with emotional eating; because I'm still a Mom and seeing a play room covered in toys grates a nerve..... That's French for, "I just had a handful of Goldfish crackers, a chocolate chip cookie and a few sips of Coke about ten minutes ago."
Dagnabit, hornswaggle!
I can work on that. It will have to be the first, and most important, issue to tackle. It's a matter of setting an example for my son.
......
And I see where I've hit a wild tangent. How exactly does my title apply to all this mess?
I'm in the process of accepting that I may very well be working da chemo for the rest of my life. I was "okay" with it once, but then I got hopeful and optimistic. I need to let my feet touch reality again. If I'm going to be Releasing the Craken for the next fifty years, I can't keep eating the way I have (on and off) for the last year. I need to understand that this is a big part of my life now. I need to commit to the healthiest me possible. I need to get my butt back in gear.
It's my life.
How do I really want to live it?
How do I really want to feel?

Every Monday Is A New Beginning
Good Monday Morning! Yep, I'm still obnoxiously grateful to have another Monday morning on this rock. I know, a lot of people hate Mondays. It's hard to get back into the routine after a relaxing weekend. Those who work outside of the home have to return to jobs that they might not necessarily enjoy; going from a place of love and laughter to frustration and maybe fear. Yeah, I get that. If I could hug them, I would. All the same, I love Mondays.
One of the reasons I love Monday so much leads to a bit of a confession. Ready?
Cancer or not -- surgery or not -- I'm vain. I can't lie about it. I might forget to leave the home wearing Molly (or at least a hat) sometimes. I might forget most mornings to figure out correct makeup application. I might wear the same clothes a couple days in a row. Regardless, I'm still vain.
And that wasn't even the confession!
Because of vanity, I do try to eat and act as healthfully as possible. I also kinda sorta try to shed a set number of pounds that I relocated on my cancer journey.
See, early readers may (or may not) remember that, just before finding out I had cancer, I had gotten my keester back in gear to lose a ton of weight -- about eighty pounds. I was successful at losing that weight. In the month prior to my diagnosis I was REALLY good at losing that weight -- about three to six pounds a week -- but I later learned, that's because of the cancer. Consequently, I lost too much weight.
I wanted to maintain around 160 lbs -- my happy place, size Medium, etc. Yeah, I dropped down to the 140's even during the first couple/few rounds of chemo. Not being able to eat will do that t'ya. On me, 140 looks bad. It feels weird when you sit on the floor, too. Even my skinny jeans had room to move.
I decided that this was an opportunity to eat whatever I could, whenever I could. Medical professionals and The DH pretty much agreed with me. In retrospect, Pop Tarts, cookies, cakes, pies and my Mom's awesome cooking were probably not my best choice. They were tasty, but not my best choice. Either way, as the months ticked on, all those choices helped me regain the fifteen-ish pounds I didn't want to lose....and then, eventually, ten extra that I didn't want back.
Tada!
So, I talked to my oncologist. Mostly, I wanted to get back to eating healthfully; but I knew that I would need my happy little crutch -- Weight Watchers. I even brought it up at three different appointments to be sure that he was okay with it. He was; so I rejoined.
Now, ask me. Have I lost those unwanted ten pounds? No. I still want to. I've gotten better at eating healthfully, but using the Points Plus number to know when I'm "done" eating has been a challenge. In part, I think it's because I'm still trying to make the mental transition from processed crappy carbs to the better choices. Mentally, I still feel like I've earned the right to a giant chocolate muffin half way through the week. It's faulty thinking, and I'm working on it.
So, what does all this rambling have to do with Mondays and new beginnings?
Monday is my day to "weigh in." It's my day to restart; recommit. It's when I dust myself off and try again. Monday is my day to remind myself that all things are possible when I want them badly enough. Right now, there are a few things I want badly enough.
If you read all of this, thank you for taking the time. Here are the magic beans that will give you back your time.
Do you have a "reboot" day?
Do you believe it's possible to try again? Or do you decide, once you're down you'll always be out?

Make My Way
Good Friday Afternoon! While I might not have my Friday Finds polished off and ready to post YET, I do have something to share. It's a cathartic part of why I haven't been combing the blogosphere for cool new things:

See, I'm *this* close to meeting my weight loss goals for a healthier life. Just after Christmas, 2009, I decided it was time to take off the 80 pounds I had gained over the few years before that. Now, I've lost 70 of those 80 and I feel purty durn cool about myself. I can tell that the last ten pounds is going to be a struggle. In part because I've decided they are going to be a struggle. In part because I'm just plain old comfortable and content saying that I weigh 170 lbs (at 5'9" tall). I've lost that bit of drive....but I haven't lost ALL my drive. I've still seen my mirror image. I still want to work on lifting things up, toning things down and looking like some version of whatever "hot mama" means to me. I also want to fit into the remaining size 12 clothing that I didn't give away to a friend of mine many years ago. My goals have shifted from the simple to the complex. As long as I understand that; and that I'm still looking to progress, I'm okay with the shift. I'm even okay that it seems to have taken me a few weeks to realize what it is that I now want and outline how to get it. Now to... get it!
It helped quite a bit to create this page and solidify my thoughts. A lot of details went into it; like this sketch from Creative Scrappers:

Also, I was inspired by the March Tres Chic challenge at Bella Creations. To quote the criteria, "...create something/anything in a vintage style....use the colors Navy blue, khaki, white You must use theses elements: a vintage inspired image, metal embellie, ticket." When I first started working on the page I could have sworn the color combination was navy, BROWN, khaki and black. I wud wrong; but I think I had covered up my lack of reading skill.... sorta. The vintage-inspired image is the circle of sheet music; which I found on (I believe) the Graphics Fairy. The metal pieces are all from Tim Holtz:

The ticket is an image that was shared by Micupoftea in her Violia Ink group (also at Bella Creations). I FINALLY had a moment of clarity and incorporated it into the page. The original sketch only had a couple circles, but obviously I added more and turned one of the intended circles into my journal spot -- to keep my goals clear and understood.

The scrabble tile images were shared by Scrapperlicious on her blog many moons ago. After printing off the paper images, I decided to attach them to small squares of Grunge Paper to give them a little something more. Also, I'm starting to finally dwindle down on my stash of Technique Tuesday Technique Tiles -- the bracket frame. I layered the white chipboard with a good coating of Distress Ink, then Glimmer Mist. Back when I was sure I needed to add brown, the three brown gems made more sense. And, of course, the paper is Bo Bunny's Mamarazzi line. I loved the quote strip and figured I needed to keep that as a reminder as well.
And I DARE NOT forget! The title itself is the title of a song by the band, Blues Traveler. I've had an intense love of their music since I was 16. It's always plucked at the right strings of my soul to help me figure out what's bothering me and how to fix it. Just like this song suggests, I'm trying to make my way. I found the song on You Tube and thought I'd share it with my readers as well (assuming my limited techie ways are correct):
Now, I'm curious to know if the video link worked, so I'm going to thank you now for taking the time to read.

14
Hello! I'm busted, writing this in advance, so I'm not going to have a lot of conversation. I've also been the gracious recipient of DS's cold. Woohoo, huh? I did want to share a LO I created this week. It was primarily inspired by this week's challenge at The Color Room:

But I also loved the Tuesday Sketch at Frosted Designs:

Here's my take:

The first detail I'll highlight is this acrylic tag. It was also inspired by the Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs -- use vellum, transparency or acrylic on a project. It's a small piece of acrylic, but I seem to be in constant battle with my vellum. Just ask the other two projects I'm still working on! The tag does say "Pounds Tall." I do not currently weigh 14 pounds. I'm currently a size 14 -- a very big deal for me. Privately, I'll be adding my weight beside the acrylic tag. I think we can all agree that's personal enough.

I also had fun creating the frame around the photo It's a combination Technique Tuesday tile, paint, a layer of Glimmer Mist (Rip Tide), Distressed Stickles and these awesome stamps created by:

The chipboard butterfly is courtesy of a prize won on the blog of Crafty Sprinkles. I misted it with Glimmer Mist (Rip Tide) and covered the vines in more Distressed Stickles.

The beautiful flowers are Prima, of course. The butterflies are fussy-cut from the background pp (DCWV, Mariposa). I kinda figured no one would mind if I covered my shower curtain. It's a pretty curtain but....
Thank you for taking the time to read and look. I look forward to being able to pop in on many challenges tomorrow to catch up on other participants' work and do the same.
Stay healthy!

By Way of Mental Note:
Wow! That title reminded me of even more than I wanted it to. I had an idea last Saturday to create a weekly feature on my blog, Friday Finds. In part, I hoped the blog would be a way for me to post something new at least once each week because I'd make myself post a bunch of cool links and fun stuff each Friday for everyone else to check out in turn. In part, it's just fun to share. We all travel in slightly different directions through the blogosphere and web. Why not share something potentially new and different?
.....Why not make this my first Friday Find? Afterall, I'm about to share a link and source of inspiration. Wasn't that my plan all along?
Okay, so first up: Punky Scraps is a site I've only begun to loosely follow. I've gathered that they have a Friday Challenge and they seem to lean a bit more to the rough and tumble of life. This appeals to me. I focus most of my scrapping on my son and my husband. Both my husband and I have an affection for heavy metal and rock music. This week's challenge is to gain inspiration from this quote:

Oof! I know, but it appeals to me.
Next: Maximum Embellishment, is a blog by Sandi. I discovered her via the blog roll over at Bella's Creations. She has been frequently sharing THEE CUTEST Valentine images lately. I've marked a couple to use in cards pretty soon but I'll wait to disclose which when I see that I like how they turned out.
And: Frosted Designs has been putting forth amazing Friday Challenges all their very own. I just wish I was able to participate more often. This week's challenge is to use vellum, transparencies or acryllic on your project. For better details, check out their blog here.
Want a good laugh? Check out Hyperbole and a Half. Her blogs are the epitome of brilliance!
Sketches in Thyme has a gorgeous sketch this week:

Feel inspired? Create and share your page with Sketches In Thyme. Upload for a chance to win a really cool goodie package.
Kelly Goree shared a super cool link for a chance to win some embossed Coordinations card stock. Interested? Click on her name to learn more. Hurry! Your chances end with this evening.
And one final share: a blogger by the name of Bitch Cakes has been inspiring me and getting me to think more about my own food choices. She's a Weight Watcher and she reached Lifetime a while ago. This week she shared a great recipe for a new take on fries....using delicata squash. Looks good and I'm trying to find this variety in my own local produce sections so I can give it a try.
I don't know about you, but that's a lot of information, isn't it? I don't think I'll always have so many finds, but I'd say this is a pretty good start. Until next time!

I don't do Resolutions, but Goals Rock my Casbah.
Good Wednesday morning!
It's been a very long time since I have made a blog post and I really do feel guilty about that. Seriously, it's getting to the stage of guilt in which I feel so bad that I try to pretend that I never began blogging at all.... and that's not cool, is it?
I like blogging.
I like reading blogs.
I like establishing the very beginnings of relationships through blogs.
I also like the new PointsPlus program with Weight Watchers.
....and how much better I feel because of the better food choices.
I DON'T like struggling to incoporate a chunk of dedicated exercise time into each day. It's still necessary, as I've got at least 13 lbs left to remove in 2011.
I DON'T like struggling to balance exercise and paper-crafting in my week. Right now, neither is getting much attention because I'm also trying to ensure my son knows he's loved.
I also want him to be educated; pesky teaching never left my blood!
There's a lot to like and want and pay attention to in 2011, huh? There's even more that I haven't written here; but that's more likely because I'm not focusing right now....and I sense a rambling streak hitting full force. Straight to my goals, then?
In 2011, I want to:
* Practice my blogging at least once per week with a focus on segues. (see the paragraph above for my so-not-smooth moves)
* Create a dedicated 30 minutes each day for exercise.
* Complete at least one crafty project each week -- creating embellishments from scratch; scrapbook pages; cards, dimensional objects, etc.
* Remove between thirteen and 23 lbs from my body.
* Re-instill a love of fruits and veggies in my son. I feel off the healthy wagon late Fall and he decided he's never touching fruits or veggies ever again. Monkey see, Monkey do!
* Establish a schedule and curriculum to attempt educating my son at home. I'm not looking to homeschool; but we can't afford Pre School right now and our Head Start programs are packed. I don't want him to be unprepared for Kindergarten.
I have a few more goals that are personal but they're also pretty good and achievable.... I hope! On a final note, I want to welcome and thank my new followers! I did see that the number jumped up significantly over the past week and more. The recent rise in my "follow" number is one of the reasons I really want to get myself back into blogging more frequently. It hardly seems fair to make your investment and not get anything in return, does it?

Finally, a crafty moment!
Good Thursday, evening! Missed me? I know, of course you have!... Yeah, I'm a bit over-confident tonight, but I'm okay with that. I've spent the majority of the past nine days doing two things: absorbing the new PointsPlus plan from Weight Watchers AND creating plans and sub plans and surprise plans in case I had to actually leave the house for Jury Duty (dun dun duuuunnnn).
In my first five days on the new plan, I lost 3.6 pounds. For me, that's none too shabby! It also makes me want to go on for several paragraphs with how much I love this new plan; but I won't.... unless it's requested of me.
Jury Duty... Woot to the hoot that cases were never scheduled either day. If they had been, I would have gone in, of course. It's a duty. There are serious penalties for ignoring it. I'm kinda curious as to how it all works. Instead, today I made some beautiful chocolate chip cookies with my young son. Again, he wanted to help in the kitchen so he got to obsess over the vanilla bottle; crack a couple eggs and open them with guidance; gradually add the flour; count to twelve as I lumped dough onto the pans; ask me every 30 seconds if he could the spoon.
When it was all said and done, we had four dozen cookies and a promise to keep. I have a very good friend who managed to talk me calm last week. I was grateful that she took the time; used her patience and training; and took the topic without batting an eye. It was a new level to our friendship and I wanted her to know how grateful I was. Being one with paper, I couldn't simply lump a dozen cookies in a Ziploc bag and call it square. Oh, no! I had to make a little gift box for them to nestle in:

The paper is a mixture of DCWV packs.
The felt flora shadow is Prima Devines.
The butterfly was cut with my Slice many moons ago; and decorated with Prima E Line bling. I love that stuff!!!!!
The lace is from Joann's. I was on a lace kick last Spring and have so much now just hanging around.
I found the tutorial for this amazing idea on Frosted Designs. I knew instantly that this was a project I'd want to take on many times. I rather dig my first attempt; but I'd love to do so much more. This is one of those crafty projects that I'd recommend to ANYONE who sees a lot of paper crafting magic on blogs, but doesn't feel very crafty on their own. The patterned paper packs available at local stores makes it so easy to make something so quick and easy. Seriously, check out the tutorial and give it a try. Cheaper than tins, AND you don't have to figure out where to store the lump of a container, either.
Aside from this, I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of reading my favorite blogs soon. Now that I've got a bit of a rhythm with planning and tracking my food choices during the day, there's time for that quiet joy.....Until I can kick myself into gear with plotting time for regular physical activity. OH! And the looming resolution to do a loose version of home-schooling my son until we're able to enroll him in Pre-School or Kindergarten. Ack! Thank goodness I used to be a teacher by profession or else this moutain would be waaaaay bigger than I could handle.

Sweet Sixteen
Good Monday Evening! I hope your morning and afternoon were smoother than mine! Rather than bog you down with all that nonsense, how about a couple pretty pages and a little story?
Sound good?
The first page I wanted to share is related to my last post. It was a few days later, but I finally got out and found a good pair of jeans to fit my slightly slimmer body. I used a sketch from Practical Scrappers:

This is what I created:

One of my details was actually inspired by an old post at Practical Scrappers -- to use my stamps. Unfortunately, I never got around to sharing what I made *that* time, but I did enjoy it so much I did it again:

and closer...

The base paper is part of the DCWV Amber Autumn stack (that the rest of the page is made from. The flourishes were cut with a Cricut and the Cindy Loo cartridge. I then inked them with Distress Ink,Victorian Velvet; THEN stamped with Sassafras Lass stamps. The flowers in each corner are Prima; as are the blingy centers.

The dress form was cut using one of the Paris cartridges (I believe Summer In Paris)

That would be my new size. It's not tiny, but it works for me right now. I had wanted to add the word "Sweet" above the sixteen, but have been picky about font. Usually when that happens, it's months before it's added. The digits (both background AND the pretty layer) are from the Cindy Loo cartridge. They are cut from Grunge Paper (it's a love of mine). I inked the base layer with more Victorian Velvet ink; then inked the top layer with Black Soot. I wanted a richer look, so I covered *that* with Black Diamond Stickles. Then I was content.
I realize this is getting lengthy, so I'll save the other page for my next post. That's where the little story will be, too.
Thanks for looking!

Maybe Clocks aren't everything.
It's almost a crying shame. Almost, but since there's too much to be happy about right now, I'll save the tears for another day.
Today, I am officially (by my standards, anyhow) fifty pounds less than I was JUST before the year began. I am one or two pounds shy of being able to say, "Hello, 180's! Where have you been?" Obviously, they took an extended vacation... and so did I. The last time I was 189.x lbs, I had been given the nod by my doctor that I was in fact pregnant with my son over four years ago. I tried to maintain that in the first trimester, knowing that it wasn't necessary to "eat for two" just yet. Morning sickness helped a bit, but the power of carbs to soothe a queasy tummy was stronger than my will power, and then I was a happy carbo camper from then on!... And, since I'm not trying to talk about ALL the weight I gained, I'll get back on my mental track.
Since I did have weight to lose (eventually) I started losing it. Fifty pounds is none-too-shabby. Soon, I'll celebrate by going out and getting a new pair of jeans; one size smaller. I'll even declare that new size to the world, once I've bought them (because I've already prepped the scrap page for my weight loss album)! Yes, I did. It's beautiful, too; just like I feel right now.
Until I go shopping, I've let my mind wander. When was the last time I was *this size*?... It had to be while I was pregnant...Which is why I have NO clothes to slip into until I do go shopping. It's also why I'm perplexed because I was *this size* wearing a specific pair of happy khaki's in my first trimester, but I could swear they are one size smaller still. So, what in hey-diddle-diddle did my body DO while I was pregnant?! If I could weigh this much and fit into smaller clothes...
Did my hips expand? (I know they do that)
Was I more muscle then? (I practically lived at the gym before learning I was pregnant)
.... Both are possible, aren't they? Both are also messing me up! What I haven't said yet, is that I used to be a walking clock. One could set their watches AND historical time lines by my body's actions and sizes. I was always predictable and perfectly mapped out. Now.... Well, in ways life is good and I choose to seek joy and sanity in those ways. However, in ways life is also one magnificent mess and I don't know if I'll ever figure out which way I'm supposed to stand again... much like I can't figure out exactly what size I'm supposed to be, simply by reading a scale. Everything that I just flat out KNEW is being called to question and I can't stand and say that it's all perfectly correct.
So, now, a lot like the clock near the front door, I'm kinda broken and in need of a little help. I don't know exactly where I'll find that help, but I've got a few starters in mind. I've also got a memory of a time when I finally just threw my hands in the air and said, "I give. I don't know it all. Help me to learn more while I take it all one step at a time."
Maybe a few of those first steps should be the most simple... Like out the door and to the mall to find a properly fitting pair of jeans, huh?

What the Doctor Ordererd....
Good Wednesday evening... At least, that's when I started typing this post. I can't guarantee I'll publish on time, but ya never know.
Oh, and this is not a scrappy post. There are no pages to share down below; just a few photos of my accomplishments and my son.
There were accomplishments today. Backtrack to Monday, I had a physical with my new doctor. Totally blog worthy, huh? I know, but it was a good interaction with her. We talked about eating properly and being more active. This made me love her on the spot. My former doctor never once discussed my weight and lack of healthy living. He always laughed it off when I opened the door to do exactly that.
She, on the other hand, noted my desire to exercise more often, but lack of ability to follow through. So she gave me an oral prescription (and I adored her Indian accent as she did it): Exercise three to four times each week, at least 30 minutes each time. Not earth shattering for me. There was a time in my life when I'd spend 2 or three hours at the gym, three to five days each week. I was spinning. I was stepping. I was lifting. I was yoga-ing. I was awesome. Eventually, I was also exhausted. Then, I was pregnant.
I digress. My point was, I do enjoy exercise. I also have a hard time committing to it now because I'm (to an extent) at the whims of a three year old child. Sometimes I can bribe him with a cup of cocoa once we get home. Sometimes I can't. Some days he wakes up toooooooo early for my liking and I'm in pain and nausea for the rest of the morning. Some days, I'm just in pain and nautious because I'm alive.
Today was a special day. Despite my child's 4 AM wake up call, I got some laundry done. I started cleaning the Living Room (like deep cleaning). Today I showered. Today...I got exercise. I had to do it on the sly, but I got it done, damnit!
Today, I raked leaves!
Did you know that you (or I, because I only tracked it for my current weight) can burn about 180 calories by raking the lawn for 30 minutes? That's not bad! It might not look like much to some, but this is what I accomplished today:

As you can see, my son also accomplished a bit, too. The planets aligned and he was all about "helping" me rake the leaves this afternoon. He was also all about dismantling the pile as he saw fit.

There's another reason I'm pretty proud today. About a year ago (give or take a month) I tried raking leaves. Over the course of three days, I got about half the back yard done...with a lot of breaks to catch my breath and regain my focus. A year ago, I was over 40 lbs heavier. A year ago, as I took one break, I heard an ambulance siren coming closer to my home. I knew it wasn't coming for me, but they way I felt physically...It wouldn't have been out of the question.
So, today I raked. I huffed. I puffed. But I didn't get knocked down
I'm on my way, baby.
I'm on my way. And this is good because the leaves are far from done falling. We are surrounded by a dozen trees that look a lot like this tonight:

Weight Loss and Focus Gain
I just want to take a few moments to relish this little tidbit. Normally, there are specific numbers that I believe a lady has no need to disclose to the world at large, but I'm digging this one, so...
194.2
Progress; partially by accident.
Toward the end of June, I went from 204.x to 200.x; thereby putting my body just on the teetering edge of being a bajillion miles closer to where I wanted to be. Then, my body waged war on itself. There was intense pain and so much confusion that the last thing I wanted to do was eat. I lost another four pounds; down to 196.8. I managed to stay there, even after getting my eating (slowly) back on track and that was okay.
In January, I made three resolutions. One was to lose 40 lbs. With those two incidents; I reached that goal and then some. I've been coasting and happily hanging at 196.8 for about 3 months now. Normally, that would piss me off, but I haven't bee able to afford Weight Watchers meetings in the exact same amount of time. For me, holding steading rocks right about now because it means I'm not gaining anything back.
Recently, I tried to get back on the weight-loss wagon. More than anything, it was an attempt to create continued success in my life overall. If I can't do one thing, I know I can do the other. So I started, then I got distracted for a few days and am working to get back on track. In the mean time, I hopped on the scale to see the damages.
194.2!!!! That's a loss of -- what? -- 2.6 pounds, right? Not too shabby, by my book. I'll take some time to enjoy this and use it to get my head straight again.
My new goal for now: Get to 190.0 I was 189 when my son was conceived over four years ago.... and 220 just after he was born...and 240 when I rejoined WW December, 2009
Then, 180.0
Then, I'll have to hold steady until I'm in the mood to knock out the last 20 pounds which didn't bother me a whole lot when they crept back in about five years ago.
194.2.... I can dig that today.

That's close enough! (a weight-loss entry)
Okay, naughty blogger form 101: I wrote this last Tuesday. I REALLY wanted to post a picture of how I altered my weigh-in book for Weight Watchers; but head colds, potty training, and that feeling of "something missing" in the design prevented me from posting the same day. Oops!
Anyway, Happy Saturday to me and my two followers! *waves*
.................
I made a few goals for myself to accomplish in 2010. One of these goals was to lose half of the eighty overall pounds I "need" to lose. As of last night, I've lost 29.2 of those 40 lbs. Last night, I put that point two onto the end of that 29...as in that's all I lost this past week...0.2 lbs....
To be honest, I was pretty sure I was going to have a gain, so that tiny loss is okay... but I was really secretly wanting a gain. THAT would have been a result I finally felt I earned. In the last few weeks, I've had great losses, but never felt that I had earned them. A tiny gain would have made sense and set me straight.
The more I thought, though, the more I was able to see how (for me, anyhow) such a small loss could be as motivating as a gain. I know I work hard all week long. I could work harder and have to create an exercise plan that will make that happen; but I work hard to make sure I pay attention to what I eat. I work hard at evaluating whether or not I actually need to eat or address an emotion or situation more carefully. I create head-games to maintain balanced nutrition. I make a point of running after my child, thinking of all the calories I can burn... and because I love him, of course.
So, on this fresh Tuesday, of my brand new week, I hear some favorite lyrics replaying in my head. I find they keep me going on the right track:
Life I embrace you!
I shall honor and disgrace you!
Please forgive if I replace you;
you see I'm going through some pain.
But now I see clearly;
And the dawn is drawing nearly.
Even though I'm human and it's early
I swear I'll never forget again.
Oh, and since I got the thumbs up on my creative moment...
And this is my blog...
I thought I'd share a little bit of crafting that I applied to my weigh-in book. Basically, it's a book cover, but it was fun AND I got to put my current favorite mantra on the front as a gentle reminder.
Anyway, Happy Saturday to me and my two followers! *waves*

Wanna Lose Wonday!
Okay, so for a moment, I thought that title was clever. Considering this is only my second post, I figured I'd work on all the "About Me" blogs in the days and weeks to come.
So here we go...
Hello, My name is Mamma, and I'm a Weight Watcher. I'm also many other things, but Monday nights, I slip out of the house and into my local Weight Watcher facility to step on a scale. So far, so good. This is my second time with The Company; having lost 100 lbs the last time. It felt great. I wud awesome; and even kept it off for several months. Life intervened; I had a kid. I had a major shake-up with my employment status. I gave up. I gained 80 lbs in the span of 2 1/2 years. Yeah.
The Monday after Christmas, 2009, I went back to Weight Watchers with the support of my husband. So far, I am 29 lbs lighter and quite a bit happier. Weekends are my biggest challenge, since Monday is my "day or reckoning," but I have an idea that I'll put into place this week that should help quite a bit.
What's a girl to do when Saturday rolls in and then into Sunday...and all the healthy food is gone, but life gets hectic and there's no such thing as thinking before eating? My best guess right now is to switch up grocery day to pre-empt that.... Kicking into gear with a workable exercise program will likely help, too. Of course, that means my tush needs to get out of this chair right now and get to moving, doesn't it?
Well, alrighty then! Considering I have no followers, that's a totally doable thing.
So, later Me!
So here we go...
